STS Technical Services is hiring Design Release Engineers in Warren, Michigan. This role is ideal for highly motivated engineers who thrive on innovation and cross-functional collaboration. As a key contributor to electrical module design and development, you’ll lead projects that directly impact safety, performance, and product reliability.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for both on-site collaboration and remote productivity.
Position Overview
As an Electrical Module Design Release Engineer (DRE), you will define requirements, execute design, perform analysis, testing, and manage engineering projects for electrical module components. You’ll also provide technical leadership to a product development team, coordinate with suppliers, and manage timing and issue resolution for a wireless charging system.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain Interface Control Design (ICD) strategy and ICD templates
- Develop and maintain commodity-specific documentation
- Generate and maintain global subsystem/component technical specification templates (SSTS/CTS)
- Lead the resolution of technical issues
- Document and close out lessons learned in Problem Resolution Tracking System
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams and multiple suppliers
- Lead and manage supplier resident engineers
- Support sourcing and technical solution development for current and future programs
- Perform complex design analysis and initiate engineering documentation
- Collaborate with suppliers, plant personnel, and engineering functions to implement improvements and cost reduction measures
- Validate assigned modules and oversee testing activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, or Computer Science
- 2+ years of related experience
- Knowledge of microcontroller architectures, memory technologies, and programming
- Understanding of hardware design and electronic failure modes
- Familiarity with vehicle serial data communications
- Proficiency in writing and interpreting software and hardware requirements
- Knowledge of software verification and validation processes
- Strong analytical ability to solve complex, technical problems
Preferred Qualifications
- DFMEA training
- Knowledge of software algorithm design and architecture
- Engineering change management experience
- Electronic validation experience
- DFSS Black Belt certification
- Vehicle communication tool experience
- Wiring and harness design experience
- Experience developing safety-critical systems or components
