The selected candidate will become a Design Engineer/ Architect on the Infrastructure Design Team (INF). This role supports the design, modeling, and integration efforts for Civil/Structural elements for Sentinel Launch Facilities, Launch Centers, or Test Facilities.

This position will be located in Roy, UT.

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

• Responsible for overseeing and coordinating architectural design for the Sentinel infrastructure and facilities.

• Subject matter expert supporting the architecture of complex, modular structures.

• Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.

• Participate in project design/model reviews.

• Review subcontractors design product quality/accuracy by reviewing architectural drawings and specifications and validating that current standards are applied and integrated into the design solution.

• Support the delivery of Architectural drawings within Technical Data Packages (TDP), Issue-for-Construction (IFC) packages, as-built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts.

• Supporting structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues

• Developing and presenting design change requests, coordinating with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring configuration control of the technical baseline.

• Identifying risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design factors and executing handling/mitigation/capture actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities.

• Developing and maturing Architectural designs that meet Weapon System requirements, UFC, MIL-STD, and other applicable codes and regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with investigation date within 5 years.
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
  • Design Architect: Bachelors degree in architecture with 2 years’ of related experience; 0 years’ experience with a Master’s degree.
  • Principal Design Architect: Bachelors degree in architecture, plus 5 years of related experience; or Masters degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 1 years of experience.
  • Fully competent architect in all conventional aspects of architecture.
  • Independently performs a variety of assignments requiring skills in all conventional aspects of architectural designs for projects of moderate size and complexity.
  • Performs analyses of design, planning, and occupancy studies, and limited design layouts.
  • Prepare project specifications, compiling and analyzing relevant data.
  • Review completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations.
  • Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meet the client’s needs.
  • Provides professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects. Independently applies advanced architectural concepts and designs.
  • Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
  • May provide technical guidance to less experienced architects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient writer and able to verbally communicate technical content
  • Exposure to weapons system program requirements
  • TeamCenter CPLM experience
  • Experience with ICD-705, Uniform Facility Criteria, Uniform Facilities Guide Specifications
  • Developing and presenting design change requests, coordinating with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring configuration control of a technical baseline.
  • Identifying risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design factors and executing handling/mitigation/capture actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities.
  • Developing and maturing facility designs that meet Weapon System requirements and other applicable codes and regulations.

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
