Systems Engineer- Space Force

Contract Position

Pay Estimated: $84.40-$89.40Hour

Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.

Responsibilities:

• Lead system-level engineering efforts for satellite communication systems, including requirements analysis, system design, integration, testing, and validation.

• Perform requirements definition and allocation to subsystems and components based on customer specifications.

• Conduct technical planning, performance and risk assessments, and cost-effectiveness analyses for system elements.

• Support system integration and test verification activities and validate system design through modeling, simulation, and real-world test scenarios.

• Research COTS components, vendor products, and specifications to assess design feasibility and system applicability.

• Coordinate and develop system security documentation; support system accreditation/certification evaluation, including access control and authentication features.

• Serve as technical liaison for multi-level security domains and cross-domain solutions; manage external interface coordination (e.g., ICDs).

• Interface with GFE WAN providers and lead the detailed design and integration of networking components.

• Collaborate across engineering disciplines, including with external stakeholders (e.g., Iridium, SDA, Northrup, York, Lockheed) to align scope and system deliverables.

• Apply agile development practices and lightweight requirement decomposition to maintain program velocity and avoid scope creep.

• Contribute to the creation of technical documentation and engineering deliverables throughout the system development life cycle.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field.

• 8+ years of relevant experience (or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience).

• Active Top Secret Clearance required.

• Experience with satellite communications systems, including ground-to-satellite operations.

• Familiarity with network design and system-level networking, including interfacing with WAN providers.

• Proven background in ground systems engineering and mission operations support.

• Experience working in agile development environments, with strong understanding of scope management.

• Strong capability to lead trade studies, resolve design weaknesses, and communicate system architecture across cross-functional teams.
