Prime Air is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Engineer who combines technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. As a Senior Supply Chain Engineer within Amazon Prime Air, you will lead supplier performance and manufacturing readiness across multiple product lines. You will drive scalable mechanisms that improve quality, cost, and delivery, while influencing sourcing strategy, design decisions, and supplier capability. Partnering closely with engineering, quality, and operations, you will enable suppliers to achieve rate, yield, and reliability targets—balancing Day 1 agility with the structure needed to scale Prime Air’s hardware production globally.
Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.
Key job responsibilities
- Define supplier performance strategy across Prime Air programs—driving quality, cost, and delivery improvements through scalable mechanisms and structured governance.
- Influence design, sourcing, and manufacturing strategies through data-backed should-cost models and capability insights, shaping long-term supply decisions.
- Lead multi-supplier readiness and rate-scaling initiatives, ensuring alignment to roadmap, capacity, and launch objectives across product lines.
- Govern complex technical changes and manufacturing validations, ensuring design intent, reliability, and rate readiness across multiple suppliers.
- Own cross-functional program integration, coordinating engineering, quality, and operations deliverables to ensure synchronized ramp and readiness milestones.
- Establish global supplier health and risk frameworks, driving standardization, visibility, and accountability across the supply base.
- Drive systemic improvement programs that eliminate recurring issues and raise overall supplier maturity.
- Mentor and develop engineers and partner teams, embedding scalable mechanisms and operational rigor into daily execution.
- Act as a technical and operational leader, representing SCEO in strategic reviews and influencing Prime Air’s manufacturing and sourcing roadmap.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25 within 24hrs notice.

One hour you’re deep in yield data or a cost model; the next, you’re on the factory floor driving readiness. This role thrives in ambiguity—turning chaos into structure, and structure into scalable systems that deliver quality, cost, and schedule at speed.

Basic Qualifications- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
- 5+ years of electrical or mechanical engineering experience
- Travel up to 50 domestic travel with short notice
- Proven leadership in supplier relationship management, including defining and governing SLAs, performance scorecards, and escalation mechanisms across multiple suppliers or programs.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, align cross-functional teams, and represent Supply Chain Engineering in executive and supplier forums.
- Ability to operate with high autonomy in a global environment, including leading onsite supplier engagements and executive reviews with minimal direction
Preferred Qualifications- Masters degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
- Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability
- 7+ years of experience in supplier management or manufacturing engineering for aerospace, automotive, robotics, or high-precision hardware.
- Expertise developing and governing should-cost models, using cost analytics to influence design strategy, sourcing decisions, and long-term negotiation frameworks.
- Deep understanding of DFM/DFA principles and advanced manufacturing quality tools (PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, process validation), with demonstrated ability to standardize and deploy them across diverse supplier networks.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic spanets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic spanet up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic spanet. Pay is based on a number of factors including spanet location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
