A Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, and services required for production and operations. They ensure that procurement activities align with company policies, quality standards, and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply chains.
Procurement:
- Issue purchase orders and manage procurement activities in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
Inventory and Cost Management:
- Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Work to achieve cost savings and efficiency in procurement processes.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with government regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure materials meet specifications and project requirements.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to address any supply chain issues.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in procurement and supply chain management.
- Stay updated on spanet trends and new suppliers to enhance procurement strategies.
Qualifications:
Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering discipline or equivalent.
Experience as Buyer, Purchaser, Expediter or equivalent.
Able to understand product specifications of components and materials.
Proficient in ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent
