Job Title: Aircraft Engine Mechanic
Job DescriptionThe Aircraft Engine Mechanic will provide Organizational Level support for the F-18 E/F Aircrafts Engine (F414-GE-400) along with general aircraft mechanic duties. The role involves comprehensive maintenance operations and troubleshooting to ensure the efficiency and safety of the aircraft.
Responsibilities
- Understand pre and post-flight activities and inspections.
- Service aircraft with engine oil and hydraulics.
- Perform aircraft jacking evolutions.
- Understand and maintain engine fuel systems.
- Conduct maintenance operations on F-18 aircraft, equipment, engines, components, and systems according to all applicable directives.
- Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, and written instructions.
- Setup and use pneumatic tools and common hand tools such as torque wrenches and safety wire pliers.
- Remove and replace panels, floorboards, insulation, and sealing compounds using various mechanical fasteners.
- Remove, replace, and check out aircraft components and assemblies.
- Understand and maintain hydraulics, including primary, secondary, and emergency systems.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of aircraft engine and mechanical systems, including landing gear, wheels, and brakes.
- Resolve technical problems and provide technical advice, training, and troubleshooting assistance to O Level technicians.
- Familiarity with IETMs, NAMP 4790, and applicable NAVAIR technical publications.
- Generate written reports for management as required.
Essential Skills- Minimum of 3 years of F/A-18 E/F experience.
- Familiarity with F/A-18 inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, removals, and repairs.
- Active secret DOD clearance.
- Comprehensive written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules to meet maintenance requirements.
- Capability to clearly document maintenance and repair actions, equipment status tags, logs, and parts requests.
- Ability to perform duties while wearing required safety equipment.
- Compliance with health and safety regulations, tool control, FOD control, and all training and certification requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Strong preference for candidates with experience supporting U.S. Navy F-18 squadrons on deployment.
- A&P License.
- Certification in seat removal.

Work Environment
The position is based at NAS Joint Reserve Base in New Orleans, LA, supporting both the first shift and a dedicated night shift. The work will be conducted on the F-18 E/F Super Hornet aircraft, and although it involves a Foreign Military Sales program, the position is not deployable. Safety equipment is required, and compliance with all health and safety regulations is mandatory. Initial assignment includes one month of training and certifications before engaging in hands-on aircraft work.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
