Position SummaryThe Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical equipment. This role ensures a safe, efficient, and fully operational environment by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and responding to facility needs.
Primary ResponsibilitiesMaintain and repair HVAC systems including boilers, chillers, air handlers, and ventilation systems
Troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems including fixtures, water lines, and drainage systems
Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical, HVAC, and refrigeration equipment
Service and repair food service equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, and gas ranges
Maintain and repair pumps, motors, and related mechanical systems
Support water treatment and sewage system maintenance
Inspect and maintain fire protection systems including sprinklers and related equipment
Perform welding, cutting, and minor fabrication as needed
Respond to routine and emergency maintenance issues
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Maintain accurate records of work performed and support documentation requirements
Follow all safety procedures including OSHA standards, PPE, and LOTO
Required Skills & ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED
4+ years of facilities maintenance or mechanical experience
Strong working knowledge of:
HVAC systems (boilers, chillers, air conditioning)
Plumbing systems and piping
Mechanical equipment and motors
EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (required)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
Experience with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting
Basic computer skills (email, reporting, systems use)
Valid driver’s license
Preferred QualificationsApprenticeship or technical training in HVAC or mechanical trades
Experience in large facility or campus environments
Welding or fabrication experience
Experience with energy management or building automation systems
Work EnvironmentIndoor and outdoor facility environments
Exposure to heat, cold, noise, and mechanical equipment
Work at heights, confined spaces, and physically demanding conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual labor
