Reporting Relationships:
Reports to Senior Vice President of Operations.
This position supervises a total of approximately 20 people.
This position must build strong relationships with executives and groups that include CTS’s heads of Finance, Engineering, and Human Resources, Senior Vice President of Operations, Senior Vice President of Sales & Customer Service and Vice President of Purchasing, as well as external vendors, employees and customers.
Core Responsibilities:
Hold and maintain full responsibility for the overall operation of the Jet Engine Test Site in Jupiter, Florida.
Liaise between the Test Site and Engine Service Center in Coral Springs, Florida.
Responsible for all personnel decisions at the Test Site. Direct supervision / leadership of personnel to ensure proper staffing, training, development, motivation, ongoing productivity and safety.
Responsible for labor allocation and planning.
Responsible for developing and meeting test site budget and business goals.
Responsible for test load planning, schedules and performance.
Responsible for updating, monitoring, and releasing all manual and certification documentation.
Oversee and enforce the FOD (Foreign Object Damage) prevention program.
Oversee and ensure all policies and procedures for the DOT/FAA program are followed.
Work with the Director of Quality and the Senior Vice President of Operations to update policies and procedures for the test site and testing operation.
Communicate with customers and vendors.
Ensure all policies and procedures are followed and employees are committed to a culture that values safety.
Partner with all departments to impact culture and clearly execute the business plan.
Develop, approve, and implement policies and procedures to meet schedules.
Approve and direct improvements in testing methods, quality, equipment, operating efficiency and working conditions.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures including interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Present progress reports within management team to ensure ongoing improvements are attained and investigate and resolve causes of inefficiencies.
Ability to clearly document all types of investigations regarding inefficiencies.
. Develop, manage, and complete capital projects required to improve test site operations and capabilities.
. Lead and encourage Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives to drive efficiencies and growth.
Gain employee appreciation, admiration, trust, and respect to effectively lead and direct the facility and serve as the head of the unit.
- Analyze the current organizational structure and operating of the function, including work schedules, and adjust as needed.
- Evaluate current test site management systems and consider all opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with other leaders to secure an appreciation of the CTS Engines culture and focus intensely on understanding how to work, communicate and manage within the culture effectively.
- Collaborate with the managers and employees under management to gain an excellent knowledge of the Company’s business, organization and capabilities, as well as the function and interaction of the management team. Utilize this knowledge to create an immediate plan to move forward with the unit.
- Gain a deep understanding of the engine center overall and Test Facility specifically and build excellent relationships within the team, leading to a stronger unit and outstanding employee cohesion.
Experience:
This position requires a strong background in Engine Shop management in an Airline or production facility of a similar or greater size, preferably at least ten years, with at least five to eight years in management directly or indirectly in an Engine Shop or similar environment preferred:
A minimum of 5 years of direct jet engine testing experience is required.
GE CF6 or P&W2000 Engine experience is considered a plus.
Experience in use of an ERP platform, preferably Quantum.
Computer skills including Excel, Word and Power Point.
Ability to mediate, negotiate and reach resolution with conflict.
Increasing levels of responsibility in an Engine Shop or similar organization.
Employee management and employee relations knowledge is considered a strong positive.
Strong leadership experience and/or supervisor experience, resulting in an excellent ability to communicate and direct a focused, highly responsive organization.
A top-notch, well-thought-of manager with a healthy reputation within the industry.
Proven success in team building and leading.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering is preferred, with extensive experience acceptable as a substitute for education.
A&P License is preferred but not required.
