The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.

Role Description:

The WASS Safety Site Manager is a key member of the aviation operations team supporting safety and airfield operations efforts for the U.S. Department of State DoS under the oversight of the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation INLA. Responsible for the AAR Worldwide Aviation Support Services WASS business operations and providing all management and administrative functions necessary for the safe, efficient, effective execution of Aviation Support Services in support of the U.S. Embassy Country Team, and other designated customers. Initiate, conduct, coordinate and communicate all operations, activities, and actions with respect to safety and airfield operations. Maintain liaison with INLA associate contract leads and other stakeholders to affect all plans, coordination, briefings, de-confliction, and execution of INLA directed activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure operational requirements are safely accomplished in accordance with established standards and operating procedures.
  • Conduct safety oversight and ensure completion of all required investigations, reports, and other necessary documentation.
  • Plan and execute all current and future program operations, actions, and activities.
  • Serve as the programs single point contact and subject matter expert for INLA and designated Country Team representatives.
  • Collaborate with and seek support from the AAR PMO Safety Manager as required.
  • Ensure program adherence to INLA, and AAR policies, procedures, and code of ethics.
  • Ensure mission orders are consistent with and in support of contract obligations.
  • Maintain a strong positive relationship with key customers, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Carry out leadership and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies, standards, and applicable laws.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to foster positive performance that meets, or exceeds, customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with AAR WASS PMO leadership and functional areas to ensure success of in-country operations.
  • Responsible for AAR WASS operations execution, mission support, reporting and administrative requirements.
  • Responsible for the financial success of AAR WASS in-country operations.
  • Responsible for site security to the extent allowed by US Embassy and Host Nation negotiated terms.
  • Maintain a US Secret security clearance and valid US passport.
  • Deploy and operate under austere conditions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in management or equivalent discipline.
  • 10 years of technical or professional management experience.
  • 5 years of program management experience.
  • 1 year experience in projects of similar size.
  • Strong English speaking and written communication skill Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong positive and collaborative leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and inspire a diverse team Demonstrated excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to effectively address challenges and make sound judgments.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of ICAO and Federal Aviation Administration regulations.
  • Possess a working knowledge of OSHA, SMS, Risk Management, HAZMAT and RCRA and other appropriate guidelines pertaining to the contract operation.
  • Spanish Level L-2, R-2 required in LATAM Programs.

Preferred

  • Experience as a military aviator.
  • Rated pilot with FAA certification and 1,000 hours flight time.
  • Airfield Operations and management experience. 
  • Experience managing complex flight activities for RW and or FW aircraft.
