  • Facilitate safety committee meetings to discuss HazCom-related improvements and employee feedback.
  • Analyze chemical usage patterns to identify opportunities for reducing exposure risks or substituting safer alternatives.
Program Administration and Management

  • Policy Development: Create and update HazCom policies to reflect current regulations and best practices.
  • SDS Management: Maintain a centralized, accessible database of SDSs for all hazardous materials, ensuring updates are obtained from suppliers as needed.
  • Labeling Oversight: Ensure all chemical containers are labeled per GHS requirements, including secondary containers used in production.
  • Training Programs: Design and deliver regular training sessions on chemical hazards, safe handling, and emergency procedures, tailored to different roles (e.g., machinists, assemblers).
  • Compliance Audits: Lead internal audits and prepare for external regulatory inspections to ensure continuous compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and enhance the HazCom program by incorporating employee feedback, incident lessons, and new technologies.
  • Supplier Coordination: Work with vendors to ensure incoming materials meet safety and regulatory standards, including proper documentation.
Material Monitoring Responsibilities

  • SDS Verification: Ensure every hazardous material has a current SDS, stored in both digital and physical formats for employee access.
  • Usage Monitoring: Track quantities and frequency of chemical use to detect potential overexposure or inefficiencies.
  • Storage Compliance: Regularly inspect storage areas to ensure chemicals are stored according to compatibility, temperature, and ventilation requirements.
