Job Description

This intermediate-level Production/Manufacturing Technician role focuses on hands-on electro-mechanical assembly to support high-quality drone production. You will assemble and test avionics components, follow detailed manufacturing processes and safety standards, and collaborate closely with Manufacturing and Quality teams to ensure reliable, repeatable builds in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex electro-mechanical assembly tasks independently, working from schematics, drawings, and verbal or written instructions.
  • Assemble and test avionics components, including PCB assemblies, cable harnesses, integrated modules, and related electro-mechanical systems.
  • Apply precision adhesives and bonding techniques during assembly, particularly on composites and structural components.
  • Follow detailed Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPIs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and strict safety procedures when building assemblies.
  • Use hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, torque drivers, drills, calipers, and other measurement tools to complete assembly work to specification.
  • Route and secure cables and wire harnesses accurately, ensuring proper strain relief, organization, and conformance to diagrams and blueprints.
  • Read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and non-technical instructions to perform accurate and efficient assembly.
  • Provide real-time design and assembly feedback to Manufacturing and Quality teams, escalating build issues through proper channels and supporting timely resolution.
  • Record, update, and maintain production and build data accurately in the designated systems or logs.
  • Work under aggressive deadlines, managing multiple priorities and shifting focus across projects as production needs change.
  • Maintain high attention to detail and quality throughout all assembly tasks, ensuring consistency and reliability of finished products.
  • Support fabrication or assembly of sheet metal and tube assemblies as required for drone and system builds.
  • Adhere to manufacturing protocols and quality standards to support a safe, organized, and efficient production environment.

Essential Skills

  • 2–3 years of electro-mechanical or manufacturing assembly experience in a production or manufacturing environment (intermediate-level role).
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical and PCBA assembly.
  • Assembly experience using hand and power tools, including screwdrivers, wrenches, torque drivers, drills, and calipers or other measurement tools.
  • Proficiency in cable and wire routing, including harness assembly and organization.
  • Ability to assemble avionics components such as PCB assemblies, cable harnesses, and integrated modules.
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and basic SOPs.
  • Ability to follow non-technical instructions and detailed manufacturing directions accurately.
  • Basic computer skills, including use of MacOS or Microsoft-based systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, good judgment, and proactive approach to resolving issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset.
  • Ability to follow manufacturing protocols and strict safety procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively under aggressive deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • No specific education requirements; candidates from a variety of educational backgrounds are welcome.
  • Experience with fabrication or assembly of sheet metal and tube assemblies.
  • Experience with bonding composites such as carbon fiber and epoxies (nice to have).
  • Basic soldering skills and experience working with PCBs (nice to have).
  • Experience with avionic or electronic assembly environments.
  • Comfort working from both technical and non-technical documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing and Quality.
