Position: Paint Parts Prepper
Reports To: Director of Operations
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Shift: 1st Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay Range: 18.00 - 23.00
BASIC WORKER FUNCTION:
The Paint Parts Prepper prepares parts for painting by cleaning, sanding, and fixing surface imperfections. This ensures parts are ready for a high-quality paint finish.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF
TASKS:
- Clean and degrease parts before painting.
- Inspect surfaces for rust, damage, or defects.
- Sand and scrape surfaces to remove old paint or rough areas.
- Fill dents, cracks, and imperfections.
- Mask areas that should not be painted.
- Help mix and prepare primer or paint.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
- Good attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of surface prep or painting processes preferred.
- Ability to use hand tools and sanding equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in painting, prep work, or manufacturing preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motion.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Good vision for inspecting small surface defects.
- Work in a shop environment with noise, dust, and paint materials.
- Must be able to wear required PPE (gloves, safety glasses, etc.).
